Psychological thriller research 2

Codes and Conventions

Thriller definition, a novel, play, or film with an exciting plot, typically involving crime or espionage.

Themes

Reality - The character will often try to differentiate what is reality and what is fantasy in a psychological thriller within the narrative.

existence/ purpose -  The aim or goal of a human to strive towards the state of living or having objective reality, and understanding their reason for existence. the character(s) may often try to find their purpose within the word.

Death - The cassation of life. The character may have a fear of death or have a fascination with death, alternatively the events in the film inevitably lead to death.

Props
Thriller often incorporates weapons into its genre because it shows a potential threat. Knives and handguns are very common because it makes the film more realistic, for example you would more likely find a murder to have been committed using a knife.
Other props that would be used in a psychological thriller would be objects that the viewer may find disturbing, horror themed props like old dolls feature in psychological thrillers as there is a certain atmosphere that they portray.

Makeup
Along with the weapons comes the the affects of them so there would be a common use of blood. But as well as using blood with weapons there is a use of blood appearing randomly (nose bleeds are common, shows something may be wrong) and this can be effective on the audiences views.
